Record Your First Video with SnapZoom in Five Minutes

A complete beginner walkthrough covering installation, your first automatically zoomed recording, and exporting the result.

Welcome to SnapZoom! This guide takes you from a fresh install to your first exported video in about five minutes.

Step 1: Install the extension

Head to the Chrome Web Store, search for SnapZoom, and click Add to Chrome. The SnapZoom icon appears in your toolbar — pin it for one-click access.

No account is needed for the Free plan. You can start recording immediately.

Step 2: Choose what to record

Click the SnapZoom icon and pick your source:

  • Current tab — perfect for web app demos and tutorials
  • Window — record a specific application
  • Entire screen — for workflows that span multiple apps

Optionally toggle on your webcam bubble and microphone before you start.

Step 3: Record naturally

Hit Start Recording and just do the thing you want to show. This is the part where SnapZoom differs from every other recorder:

  • Every click triggers a smooth automatic zoom toward the action
  • Click ripples make each interaction visible
  • Keystrokes appear on screen as you type shortcuts

Don't perform for the camera. The camera performs for you.

Step 4: Trim and adjust

When you stop, the editor opens automatically. You can:

  1. Trim the start and end (nobody needs to see you finding the stop button)
  2. Cut out mistakes in the middle
  3. Adjust or remove individual zoom moments if you want a different emphasis

Step 5: Export and share

Click Export and choose your format — MP4 for most uses, GIF for embedding in docs and issues. Free plan exports use standard quality with a small watermark; the Lifetime plan unlocks HD and MAX quality without the watermark.

That's it. Your first take is usually your final take — which is the whole point.
