Opening a Stripe Account with Your U.S. Company
July 10, 20267 min read
Stripe is the internet's standard payment infrastructure, but it does not operate in every country. Founders who form a U.S. LLC gain full access by opening a Stripe account under their company. Done correctly, the process completes within days.
What you need to apply
- A formed U.S. company (LLC) with formation documents
- An EIN (with the IRS confirmation letter, CP 575)
- A U.S. business address
- The owner's passport
- A live, compliant website
- A U.S. bank account for payouts
Website compliance is critical
The most common sticking point in Stripe applications is the website. Your site must clearly display: product/service descriptions with pricing, a refund policy, terms of service, a privacy policy, and genuine contact information. Incomplete or 'coming soon' sites get flagged by automated review.
Common rejection reasons
- Company details that don't exactly match official records
- Operating in prohibited/restricted categories (see Stripe's restricted businesses list)
- Missing legal pages on the website
- A vaguely described business model
Our Gold and Platinum packages include screen-by-screen support for your Stripe application. The approval decision always rests with Stripe — but with a properly prepared application, rejection is the exception, not the rule.
